Job Summary
The Quality Improvement Coordinator supports organization-wide continuous improvement across a large nonprofit service system that includes workforce development, early learning, behavioral health, primary care, and residential services. This role collaborates with program leaders, frontline staff, administrative teams, and data/reporting partners to strengthen workflows, improve service quality, support compliance, promote data-informed decision making, and monitor client/patient, process, and financial quality improvement efforts.
The ideal candidate is well versed in Lean Six Sigma methodology and practical quality improvement tools, including process mapping, root cause analysis, Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles, standard work, visual management, performance measurement, data analysis, research, evaluation, and workflow development.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience in research, quality improvement, or applying techniques to extract and analyze data; an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience that provides the required knowledge and skills may be considered.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, continuous improvement, or performance improvement methods required; Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt certification preferred.
- Experience supporting process improvement projects, workflow mapping, procedure development, audits, or cross-functional workgroups.
- Experience working in a nonprofit, healthcare, behavioral health, early childhood, workforce development, housing, residential services, or human services setting preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
- Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, summarize findings, and communicate results clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear procedures, workflows, training materials, reports, and project documentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work respectfully and effectively with staff at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and work independently with appro
- priate supervision. Research and evaluation experience, including survey design, outcome measurement, literature review, or program evaluation, is a plus.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle required.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support quality improvement initiatives across multiple departments, programs, and service lines to improve efficiency, consistency, client experience, and measurable outcomes.
- Apply Lean Six Sigma and other quality improvement methods to identify opportunities for improvement, reduce variation, streamline workflows, and support sustainable process changes.
- Facilitate workflow mapping sessions with frontline staff, supervisors, and program leaders to document current-state processes, identify gaps or bottlenecks, and develop future-state workflows.
- Assist departments in developing tools that track key performance indicators, service utilization, compliance measures, quality metrics, and client outcomes.
- Collaborate with Data Analysts and program staff to collect, clean, organize, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, performance gaps, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare clear reports, summaries, presentations, and recommendations for leadership, program teams, funders, committees, and other stakeholders.
- Support the design, implementation, and monitoring of quality improvement projects, including project charters, aim statements, measures, data collection plans, action plans, and follow-up activities.
- Support research and evaluation activities, including survey development, data collection, literature review, outcome tracking, program evaluation, and preparation of findings.
- Facilitate meetings, improvement huddles, workgroups, and project check-ins to maintain momentum, document decisions, track action items, and support accountability.
- Provide technical assistance and coaching to staff on basic quality improvement tools, data interpretation, documentation expectations, and use of dashboards or reports.
- Maintain organized documentation of quality improvement projects, procedures, data sources, meeting notes, reports, and related deliverables.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, learning, equity, accountability, and client-centered service delivery across the organization.
- Collaborates with risk and compliance to review and revise program policies and procedures.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. It requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Travel and work outside of normal hours may be required for meetings, presentations, trainings and other events.
