Job DetailsJob Location: Controlled Products - Dalton, GA 30721Job Summary: The Tufting Machine Operator (TMO) is responsible for the overall operation and performance of the tufting machine to which they are assigned. This includes machine setup, monitoring, routine maintenance, and quality control of finished products. The operator must demonstrate strong attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Duties/Responsibilities

To oversee creelers and ensure the creel is loaded with the correct yarn and is being tied correctly
To oversee their menders to ensure the turf is being properly inspected and mended
To ensure all paperwork (roll tags, creel out tags, and production orders) is filled out correctly
To run the machine, this entails threading needles, fixing pull-downs, changing blades and hooks, and changing backing when needed
The above-referenced individual is responsible for all of the above and anything else deemed necessary by Management
Get a work order from the supervisor
After the machine is set up and tied in, a weight check needs to be done and signed off on the work order
Make sure yarn lots are correct
First tufted roll should be laid out on the floor for inspection- Work order needs to be signed off by QC or supervisor
Other quality checks: Streaks throughout the width of the roll, streaks from texture, dark line/band, light line/band, low line, shag line, crossed end on A/B Thread up.
Make sure you have enough backing to run the roll
Need to manage the creel to make sure yarn is in the creel and cut back if needed.
Check all roll sizes
When near the end of a work order, know what your next work order is to determine what status is on yarn – weather yarn will stay on the machine or strip the creel.

Turn in work order to supervisor
Question anything that seems incorrect with the supervisor
Always stop the machine if anything seems unsafe

Responsible for additional duties and accountabilities that will be assigned as needed.

QualificationsRequired Skills/Abilities

Previous experience operating machinery in a warehouse or manufacturing setting
Ability to handle materials and perform basic materials handling tasks
Organizational skills and attention to detail
Time management with a proven ability to meet deadlines

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch as needed to perform job duties
Ability to use hands and fingers for repetitive motions, including grasping, handling, and operating tools or controls
Ability to push or pull light materials, carts, or pallets
Ability to reach above shoulder level or below waist level as required
Ability to visually inspect materials, labels, and equipment, including close vision and color differentiation
Ability to hear alarms, machine sounds, and verbal instructions in a production environment
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include noise, heat, dust, or moving machinery
