Duties/Responsibilities

Responsible for maintaining all semi-automatic and automatic molding machines for production within prescribed cycle time. Must maintain quality and cleaning, i.e., sweeping, mopping, vacuuming of equipment and wiping up of oil.
Responsible for reading the job specification books on each assigned press daily and staying up-dated on necessary information. This includes understanding: part information, visual criteria, and dimensions. Packaging requirements involve knowing where packaging materials are located, writing up, sealing, and labeling of boxes.
All nonconformance’ pertaining to quality will be reported to the Supervisor or designee, for decision making as well as informing the Supervisor of quality and/or molding machine problems when they occur.
Responsible for working with the Supervisor to ensure those quality standards are met.
Inspect all product while handling. When dumping a tub of parts on a sorting table, check the next shot off the press before putting the product in a finished box or tub.
Bring to the attention of the Supervisor any defects or improvements that should or could be made.
Responsible for grinding runners and bad parts on all automatic and semi-automatic machines as necessary or as directed by the Supervisor.
Responsible for ensuring that adequate supply of materials are on hand to provide for continuous machine operation.
Re-check the writing on boxes and labels to ensure that they are correct.
Responsible for counting layers of product as well as checking full boxes for correct weight, counts and that accurate production counts are recorded. Also responsible for recording and helping track machine downtime on all presses in assigned work area or areas relieving.
Responsible for relieving other operators and other persons at break times, as instructed by the supervisor or designee.
Responsible for locating and setting up proper shipping containers or cartons for assigned machines and for stocking the necessary plastic bags, tissue paper or other packaging materials as needed. Also responsible for the set-up of all packaging materials on new jobs being set up for production or sampling as required by the Supervisor.
Responsible for completing all items relating to 5s on each machine, every shift.
Responsible for helping perform a Line Clearance on machines changing jobs to ensure that all product and materials from the previous job are no longer at the press in order to prevent product mixing.
Responsible for moving tubs containing nonconforming product to the designated area.
Responsible for communicating with on-coming operator going over paperwork, how the machine ran and any special procedures or instructions for that day.
Responsible for recommending improvements in productivity and organization in our operation.
Responsible for reporting any unsafe equipment or unsafe acts performed by other employees to the Supervisor.
Responsible for wearing and using the proper safety equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses with side shields (as needed), gloves (optional) ear plugs (optional unless otherwise directed by the Supervisor) and/or any other equipment as the Supervisor may deem necessary.
Responsible for helping contain and clean up all accidental spills of water, oil or materials that may cause a slip or other safety hazards as directed by the Supervisor.
Responsible for performing other duties as required.
Capable of running all automatic and semi-automatic jobs.

Responsible for additional duties and accountabilities that will be assigned as needed.

QualificationsRequired Skills/Abilities

Ability to effectively communicate both in written and verbal form in English
Ability to lift 35 pounds occasionally and lesser weights more frequently
Ability to stand for long periods of time. Approximately 99% of time on the job is spent standing up
Ability to have good eye and hand coordination to use Knives and other tools
Ability to properly use scales for weighing product
Ability to reach and stretch into and over machines and their components
Ability to arrive at work in a timely manner to receive daily job assignment and be at their workstation prior to the starting of their shift
Execution of duties may include lifting, reaching, standing, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing, and pulling. These activities will require that one be in general good health
Able to maintain a safe and clean work environment

Tubs
Heat guns
Pen
Calculator
Knife
Cutters

Education and Experience

Education: High school degree or equivalent
Specialized training: not required
Previous experience: light manufacturing

Physical Requirements
