The Quality Control Technician supports the activities of the quality engineers and managers in day-to-day factory floor activities and issues with customers and suppliers.
Essential Functions

Measures key quality characteristics of a process by sampling parts and analyzing trends both as first piece verification as well as during the process
Verifies that sound quality procedures and practices are being followed during process activities
Maintains all gauges and test machines used for monitoring quality calibrated
Uses test standards and masters to check readings, adjust tools accordingly and replacing worn or out of date equipment
Collects data and measures parts as part of a company's continuous improvement plan
Test samples in experiments
Understands, establishes, and communicates priorities for the quality inspectors based upon input from the quality / manufacturing team. Evaluates output of processes and completion, validating work is being accomplished
Trains operators, inspectors, and others in skills of measurement and inspection
Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component
Analyzes and interprets blueprints, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required
Inspects, tests, or measures materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications
Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process change

QualificationsEducation and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent, required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Must understand quality principles and concepts concerning process, control and verification, variation, problem solving and continuous improvement
Good computer skills and use of Microsoft office software
Strong mathematical skills
Understand problem solving techniques
Ability to read and interpret blue prints with understanding of GD&T drawing notations
Must be experienced in the quality discipline body of knowledge and basic quality tools
Good analytical skills, technical writing skills, verbal and written communicational skills
Be able to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
Good problem solving skills to drive continual improvement of the quality system
Familiarity with the PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and various ISO 9001 and standard quality procedures
Willingness to pursue quality knowledge and certifications within the metals/manufacturing industry
Ability to train machine operators in company quality procedures and standards
Cleaning and basic maintenance of gauges and measuring tools as well as 5S of quality lab
Preferred Qualifications
At least 2 years of work experience in quality assurance, preferred
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Some of the work will require exposure to loud noises.
