About this role
POSITION PURPOSE
The HR Specialist provides administrative and operational support across HR, with an emphasis on benefits and payroll support, recruiting coordination, compensation support, and employee programs. This role works closely with the HR Manager, Benefits and Payroll Analyst, and HR Generalist to provide timely, accurate, and employee focused service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Assist with benefits and payroll administration, including routine employee questions, data review, reporting, and process support; provide trained backup support for designated Benefits and Payroll procedures under guidance.
- Assist with recruiting activities, including posting positions, coordinating candidate communications and interviews, maintaining candidate records, and supporting pre employment processes.
- Support hiring fairs and other recruiting events, including event preparation, attendance, candidate follow up, and tracking.
- Assist the HR Manager with job descriptions, market research, and compensation recommendations, primarily for entry level roles.
- Provide administrative support for People and Culture programs, employee communications, data requests, file maintenance, and reporting.
- Assist with HR projects, audits, and compliance related tasks as assigned.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee and candidate information in accordance with company policies and applicable requirements.
- Provide responsive, professional service to employees, managers, candidates, and vendors while escalating questions or concerns as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, finance, or a related field.
- At least one year of relevant experience in administration, customer service, recruiting, payroll, benefits, or human resources; related internships or comparable experience may be considered.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and follow up items.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a professional, service oriented approach.
- Ability to handle confidential information with sound judgment and discretion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to learn and work effectively in HR, payroll, and applicant tracking systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supporting payroll, benefits, recruiting, compensation, or employee records.
- Experience using Dayforce or a comparable HRIS or payroll system.
- Experience in a financial institution or other regulated environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Typical office environment
