Position Summary
The Family and Community Engagement Advisor is responsible for promoting family wellness, building community partnership, and operating as a liaison between programs, classroom and home settings in the area of family engagement, child development, and mental health services.
Essential Functions
- Monitor and maintain full enrollment in assigned centers.
- Oversee the development and monitor progress of Family Engagement Goal Setting.
- Provide recommendations and referrals for relevant community resources.
- Monitor compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations including but not limited to the Head Start Performance Standards and Head Start Act using data management systems (PROMIS, WES, ETO, Pre-Kids).
- Establish and maintain two-way communication with parents and agency staff to promote parental involvement, quality service delivery, and opportunities for active program involvement and participation.
- Provide crisis intervention when needed and report, document, and monitor child abuses.
- Participate in recruitment efforts/activities for assigned sites.
- Coordinate and facilitate staff and parent workshops, and assist with parent orientation, and transition workshops.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Hours
Monday – Friday | 8:00am – 4:00pm
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Program/Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, directing work, rewarding, disciplining employees, performance reviews, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or a related field (Preferred)
- 1 year of experience working in Human Services, Psychology or related field that included course work in the principles of social work, child development, counseling and/or psychology
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Bilingual in one or more of the following: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali and others, may be required depending on client needs (Preferred)
