About this role

The Assistant Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for the operational management of the assigned Nursing Unit in collaboration with physician leadership, participates in the strategic planning for the department. Has accountability for nursing services on the assigned shift. Reports to the Nurse Manager and works with related departments on ensuring that patient care issues are addressed. Makes shift assignments and facilitates admissions, transfers and discharges. Acts as a clinical resource for the unit. Provides professional nursing care to all people of all ages and their familes. Utilizes knowledge of nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, evaluate and document care. Formulates nursing diagnosis for treating actual or potential health problems, teaching, counseling and providing care. Delegates appropriate tasks to assistive nursing personnel. Displays professional practice as set forth in The Brooklyn Hospital's standard of care and the institution's mission and goals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited colleges or universities
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of perioperative nursing care and progressive leadership experiences
  • Current New York State Licensed Registered Professional Nurse
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Certified Operating Nurse (CNOR) - Preferred
  • Ability to assess and reassess patients.
  • Ability to perform assigned point of care testing (ex. Glucometer, Rapid Covid Testing).
  • Ability to administer PPD as ordered and document readings.
  • Computer application skills – ALLSCRIPTS, EPIC, Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
