Job Summary:

As a Laundry Washperson, you will be responsible for operating industrial washing equipment to clean and maintain high-end guest linens, towels, and staff uniforms while meeting strict quality standards. Learn more about The Broadmoor here.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include following. Other duties may be assigned:

 

  • Operate machinery such as washers, dryers, chain hoists, loading/unloading conveyors, and products transportation equipment.
  • Separate items by fabric type, color, degree of soiling, and proper washing temperature. And make sure items are free of trash and another foreign objects before loading the machines.
  • Load and unload commercial washing machines and extractors according to weight and capacity limits.
  • Schedule loads into washing machines to ensure desired production goals, efficiency and smooth flow through finishing areas.
  • Prioritize wash and dry as directed by the supervisors to accomplish the desired production goal.
  • Measure and apply commercial detergents, softeners, and bleaching agents safely and accurately.
  • Check washed items for stains, damage, or remaining spots, and re-wash items that do not meet standards.
  • Move wet laundry safely to dryers or finishing equipment without dropping or soiling items.
  • Deliver the items to the different working stations for finishing.
  • Clean lint traps, wipe down machine exteriors, and report mechanical issues immediately.
  • Wear required protective gear, such as gloves and aprons, when handling chemicals or wet loads.
  • Ensure complete compliance with The Broadmoor guidelines, operational procedures, safety policies, and institutional standards for excellence (Forbes Travel Guide and AAA Five-Diamond).
  • Maintain a willingness to learn about The Broadmoor’s history, estate grounds, wilderness properties, culinary offerings, and retail outlets.
  • Execute additional duties and responsibilities as required.

What we are looking for:

 

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent.
  • Previous experience in laundry and housekeeping in a hotel, resort or commercial is highly preferred; however, an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional background will be considered.
  • Strong focus on spotting stains and sorting delicate luxury fabrics correctly.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently to keep pace with resort linen demands.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office tools for documentation and email communication.
  • A highly motivated team player who connects easily with colleagues and drives results through positive energy and seamless collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills, conflict resolution and ability to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 50 lbs. with assistance and proper safety practices.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required by the calendar of events.
