About this role

Tend is a modern, forward-thinking GP practice with multiple clinics across Christchurch. We’re looking for an enthusiastic Primary Care Assistant (PCA) to join our team at our newly renovated Beckford clinic.

As a PCA, you’ll be an important part of the patient journey — from that first friendly interaction through to supporting our clinicians and keeping the clinic running smoothly. No two days will be exactly the same, and you’ll have plenty of opportunity to build your skills and grow your career in healthcare.

This is a full-time, permanent 1.0 FTE role (5 days per week).

What you’ll be doing

You’ll play a key role in supporting both our patients and clinical team, including:

  • Welcoming and communicating with patients face-to-face, by phone, messaging and digital platforms.

  • Onboarding new patients and helping create a great first impression.

  • Assisting clinicians with day-to-day clinical activities and minor procedures.

  • Chaperoning examinations when required.

  • Updating patient information and measurements opportunistically within your scope.

  • Supporting clinical performance targets and audits alongside the Clinical Nurse Lead.

  • Managing and restocking clinical equipment and linen.

  • Keeping clinical and patient areas clean, tidy and ready for the day.

  • Pitching in with general clinic duties and helping the wider team wherever needed.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who is organised, adaptable and genuinely passionate about people and healthcare.

You’ll ideally have:

  • An NZQA Level 3 or 4 qualification or equivalent/higher

  • Previous experience working in a healthcare environment is preferred.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Confidence communicating across different channels, including face-to-face, phone, messaging and digital platforms.

  • The ability to learn quickly, adapt to change and thrive in a dynamic environment.

  • Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask in a busy clinic.

Why join Tend?

At Tend, you’ll be joining a diverse team of experienced clinicians and non-clinical professionals who are passionate about delivering better healthcare experiences for our patients.

Our PCA team plays a vital role in making that happen. We’ll support you to develop your skills, take on new challenges and grow your career as Tend continues to grow.

If you’re energetic, people-focused and ready to make a real difference in a modern primary care environment, we’d love to hear from you.
