Head of Procurement
About this role
We are looking for a Head of Procurement to build and lead a strategic, agile, and commercially driven procurement function.
You will be responsible for developing procurement strategies across SUN's businesses, managing strategic suppliers and partners, driving cost efficiency, strengthening procurement governance, and ensuring timely availability of critical equipment, parts, services, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities1. Procurement Strategy & Transformation- Develop and implement SUN's overall procurement strategy aligned with business growth and transformation priorities.
- Establish procurement standards, policies, processes, approval mechanisms, and governance.
- Build a scalable procurement operating model that can support Solar, EV Mobility, eBike, and EV Vessel businesses.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency through technology, data, and process automation.
- Lead strategic sourcing and vendor selection for major equipment, components, services, and operational requirements.
- Develop and maintain a strong supplier ecosystem, including local and international suppliers.
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, payment terms, warranties, service levels, and long-term agreements.
- Establish strategic partnerships with key suppliers to secure competitive pricing, capacity, and supply continuity.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and manage supplier risks and improvement plans.
- Drive procurement savings and cost optimization across SUN's businesses.
- Develop should-cost analysis, price benchmarking, and total-cost-of-ownership approaches.
- Identify opportunities for standardization, volume consolidation, alternative sourcing, and strategic contracting.
- Support the business in maintaining cost competitiveness as SUN scales its EV and energy operations.
- Ensure timely procurement and availability of critical materials, equipment, spare parts, and services.
- Partner with Operations and Engineering to understand project and operational requirements.
- Establish appropriate inventory and sourcing strategies for critical EV components and operational spare parts.
- Proactively manage potential supply disruptions and develop contingency sourcing plans.
- Strengthen procurement controls, vendor governance, and segregation of duties.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, contracts, and applicable regulations.
- Establish transparent vendor selection and evaluation mechanisms.
- Identify and mitigate supplier, pricing, quality, delivery, and supply-chain risks.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing procurement team.
- Establish clear roles, KPIs, and performance standards.
- Develop procurement capabilities in strategic sourcing, negotiation, supplier management, and data-driven decision making.
- Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, commercial discipline, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of procurement / strategic sourcing experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing strategic procurement, sourcing, vendor management, and commercial negotiations.
- Experience in energy, mining, automotive, EV, manufacturing, infrastructure, heavy equipment, or other asset-intensive industries is highly preferred.
- Experience managing both local and international suppliers is an advantage.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable cost savings and procurement improvements.
- Strong strategic sourcing and negotiation skills.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen.
- Ability to understand technical specifications and translate business requirements into sourcing strategies.
- Strong supplier relationship and stakeholder management skills.
- Good understanding of contracts, procurement governance, and supply-chain risk.
- Data-driven and comfortable using procurement analytics to support decisions.
- Strong leadership and team-building capability.
- Comfortable working in a fast-changing, entrepreneurial environment.
