Mechanic

Summary

The Mechanic performs structural steel demolition a nd removal activities in an industrial facility. Responsibilities include dismantling, cutting, removing, sorting, and loading structural steel materials for recycling, disposal, or transport. The Mechanic safely uses hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment to complete assigned work.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous demolition, construction, industrial, or mechanical experience preferred.
• Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.

• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to safely dismantle and remove structural steel.
• Ability to safely handle materials during demolition activities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Essential Functions

• Dismantle and remove structural steel components.
• Cut, sort, stage, and prepare steel for lo ading and transport.
• Assist with scrap removal and material handling activities.
• Load structural steel and scrap materials into trailers or designated containers.
• Operate hand tools and power tools required for demolition activities.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Follow company safety requirements and work procedures.
• Participate in safety meetings and job briefings.
• Complete required timekeeping and work documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, and reach.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Work in elevated work areas as required.
• Perform repetitive physical activities th roughout the workday.
• Wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility vest, and safety-toe boots.

Work Environment 

• Work is performed primarily indoors within an industrial facility.
• Employees may be exposed to noise, du st, debris, and moving equipment.
• Work is conducted in active demolition and material handling areas.
• Compliance with all safety requirements and PPE requirements is mandatory.
