Pay: $23.00 – $25.00 per hour

Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Location: Colorado (Field-Based)

Travel: Primarily local travel with little to no overnight travel

Reports To: Construction Manager / Superintendent

The Role

The Construction Laborer / Soil Sample Technician supports Tasman's Construction Earthwork and environmental project teams by performing soil sampling, hand augering, field documentation, and general labor activities on active job sites.

This role works closely with construction leadership, environmental professionals, and field crews to help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, physically capable, and eager to contribute to both environmental and construction operations.

This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in environmental sampling, remediation support, earthwork operations, and construction field services.

What You'll Be Doing

Soil Sampling & Environmental Field Support

Perform hand augering activities to collect environmental soil samples
Collect, label, document, and manage soil samples in accordance with project requirements
Assist with environmental investigation and remediation support activities
Complete sampling documentation and field forms accurately and on time
Maintain sample integrity and proper chain-of-custody procedures when applicable

Construction & General Labor Support

Perform general labor activities including shoveling, lifting, digging, material handling, and site cleanup
Assist with project setup, preparation, and daily field operations
Support construction crews, supervisors, and environmental professionals as needed
Help maintain organized, efficient, and productive work sites
Secure job sites and equipment at the end of each workday

Administrative & Documentation Responsibilities

Complete daily timecards, JSAs, DVIRs, equipment inspections, and incident reports
Maintain effective communication with supervisors, managers, and crew members
Communicate equipment, material, and staffing needs as necessary
Maintain accurate project documentation and field records

Safety & Compliance

Follow all Tasman safety policies and project-specific requirements
Participate in safety meetings and daily planning discussions
Utilize required PPE and maintain a safety-first mindset
Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and equipment concerns immediately
Help promote a positive safety culture on all project sites

What You Bring

Required

High school diploma or equivalent
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and field conditions
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Ability to learn new processes and take initiative
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Valid driver's license
Authorization to work in the United States

Preferred

Experience in oil & gas, construction, environmental, or field operations
Knowledge of environmental remediation practices
Experience with soil sampling, soil boring, or soil classification
Experience working on environmental or earthwork projects
OSHA or HAZWOPER certifications

Work Environment

This position operates primarily in outdoor field environments.

Field Conditions

Exposure to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind
Active construction, remediation, and earthwork project sites
Potential exposure to contaminated soils and environmental materials
Regular use of PPE and safety equipment
Work on uneven terrain and active job sites

Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching
Frequent use of hands and tools
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand for extended periods (2–3 hours at a time)
Ability to walk across uneven terrain and perform physically demanding field work

Schedule

Full-time
Monday – Friday, typically 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Occasional evening and weekend work based on project requirements
Start and end times may vary depending on project and field conditions
