Global Trade Compliance Analyst
Department: Global Supply Chain / Global Trade Compliance
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)
Reports To: Manager, Global Trade Compliance
Position Summary
Tarte Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive Global Trade Compliance Analyst to support the company's international import and export compliance program. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S., Canadian, and global customs regulations while minimizing duty exposure, supporting the efficient movement of products through the global supply chain, and protecting the company from regulatory risk.
The Global Trade Compliance Analyst will work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Sourcing, Packaging Development, Product Development, Procurement, Logistics, Finance, Legal, Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders, and external consultants to support product classifications, customs audits, tariff reporting, regulatory requirements, and import/export compliance initiatives.
This position is ideal for a compliance professional who thrives in a fast-paced consumer goods environment and enjoys solving complex trade and customs challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Customs Auditing & Broker Support
- Perform U.S. and Canadian customs audits, including CBP Form 7501 and Canadian Customs Accounting Documents (CAD) reviews.
- Review entries for accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate corrective actions with customs brokers and internal stakeholders.
- Facilitate customs broker requests for missing or required information, including HTS classifications, country of origin, anti-dumping validation, TSCA requests, and other documentation required for customs clearance.
HTS Classification & Trade Compliance Data
- Assist with HTS classification and maintain accurate classifications and Customs Category Codes across applicable SKUs.
- Support trade compliance master data within ERP, Global Trade Management, and other applicable systems.
Trade Compliance Reporting & KPIs
- Assist in generating and maintaining tariff reporting, including monitoring tariff exposure and communicating impacts to business stakeholders.
- Assist with maintaining Trade Compliance KPIs, including customs audit results, broker performance, classification accuracy, and other compliance metrics.
- Support analysis of trends, risks, and opportunities to improve compliance and business performance.
Recordkeeping & Compliance Support
- Maintain accurate and compliant import/export records in SharePoint, Nav, and other applicable systems.
- Support documentation for customs audits and regulatory inquiries.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Customs & Trade, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in Global Trade Compliance, Customs Compliance, International Trade, import operations, or global logistics.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. and Canada Customs regulations, HTS/HTSUS classification, customs valuation, country of origin rules, and tariff programs.
- Experience with CBP Ace and CBSA CARM portals.
- Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) or working toward licensure is a plus
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or working toward certification is a plus
- Experience using AI tools to enhance productivity, analyze data, improve reporting, and streamline business processes.
