Job Purpose:          

Independently design and develop digital image analysis algorithms for detection & quantification of tissue components & stain expression, including tumor/stroma classification, cellular feature extraction and object detection in H&E, IHC, and/or Immunofluorescence (IF) stained images

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently design and develop digital image analysis algorithms for detection & quantification of tissue components & stain expression, including tumor/stroma classification, cellular feature extraction and object detection in H&E, IHC, and/or Immunofluorescence (IF) stained images.
  • Develop and implement machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision algorithms for digital pathology and biomedical imaging applications.
  • Apply CNNs, Vision Transformers, Foundation Models, and emerging AI methodologies to pathology and spatial biology datasets
  • Lead end-to-end execution of image analysis projects with minimal supervision, including problem definition, solution design, implementation, validation, and reporting.
  • Build reproducible and scalable image analysis pipelines.
  • Document projects, algorithms, and results in detail with the ability to proof read and record results as per regulatory standards.
  • Perform statistical analysis & data visualization using Power BI, RR, Python and/or MATLAB.
  • Contribute to process improvements, innovation initiatives, and implementation of best practices in analytics workflows.
  • Work collaboratively in project teams composed of pathologists, scientists, and image analysts.
  • Actively participate in SOP & WI preparation and periodic review. Document and maintain appropriate work records including the ELN
  • Perform other duties as instructed.

 

Educational Qualification: 

Master’s degree in biological science/ biomedical Engineering/ computer science/ Bioinformatics, or related discipline with minimum 3-5 years of experience in image analysis/processing in Pharma/ Biotech/ R&D.

 

Technical/functional Skills:

  • Prior experience working within the biotech/pharma industry, processing and analyzing digitized pathology whole slide images is desired.
  • Hands on experience on development of Image processing & Deep learning architectures like CNN, RNN, GAN, Transformers etc. for feature extraction, segmentation, object detection & classification.
  • Experience in one or more digital pathology analysis software packages; including HALO, Visiopharm, Definiens, Inform and/or Aperio Image Analysis is a plus.
  • Excellent programming skills in one or more analytics packages such as R, Python and/or MATLAB.
  • Knowledge of various digital imaging scanners & understanding of chromogenic IHC and fluorescent stains is desired.

 

Experience:

Master’s degree in biological science/ biomedical Engineering/ computer science/ Bioinformatics, or related discipline with minimum 3-5 Years of experience in image analysis/processing in Pharma/ Biotech/ R&D.
