About this role
The Department of Hospitalist Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor (HS) / Hospitalist. The successful candidate will:
- Admit adult "unassigned" patients (without a private attending in University Hospital of Brooklyn) from the Emergency Department, MICU and CCU according to the Hospitalist service schedules.
- Diagnose and treat different medical conditions in the adult hospitalized patients on their service.
- Collaborate with the nursing staff and social workers to make appropriate discharge arrangements for the patients admitted to their services.
- Provide consultations for preoperative patients and patients.
- Function as the Teaching Attending for the medical residents/student team for approximately eight months a year;
- Set and communicate expectations and provide individual performance evaluations;
- Mentor 2nd-year students on history taking and physical examination skills;
- Evaluates third-year medical students;
- Teach courses to the Medical Residents and Students.
- Participates in the Hospitalist Service meetings and performs various other hospital administrative tasks as assigned and/or required.

Functions as the Teaching Attending for the Medical Residents/Student Team for approximately eight months a year. Sets and communicates expectations and provides individual performance evaluations. Mentors 2nd-year students on history taking and physical examination skills. Evaluates third-year medical students. Teach courses to the Medical Residents and Students.
Participates in the Hospitalist Service meetings and different hospital administrative tasks.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- New York State Medical Licensure.
- Medical Doctor Degree or equivalent.
- Full training in Internal Medicine.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine.
