Reports To: Senior Maintenance Mechanic / Residential Restoration Specialist

If you have experience in construction, maintenance, or any of the skilled trades, the Housing Authority of Paducah wants to meet you.
We are looking for a full-time General Maintenance Technician / Skilled Tradesperson (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry) to join our team. In this role, you won't just be doing one thing all day. You will use your diverse skills to restore and modernize vacant housing units, helping to bring homes back to life for families in our community. ?️ What You'll Do: A Mix of General Labor & Skilled Trade Work
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, from general prep work to specialized repairs. Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Cleaning, debris removal, and preparing units for restoration work.
- Installing and repairing drywall, sheetrock, insulation, wood/metal framing, doors, windows, and cabinets.
- Performing painting, texturing, and other finishing work.
- Fixing and replacing toilets, sinks, drains, and valves.
- Repairing or replacing switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, and breakers.
- Performing basic furnace assessments, servicing, and installing appliances.
- Always following safety protocols (PPE) and adhering to HUD regulations and Housing Authority policies.
- Clearly writing down work completion notes to keep the team informed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
required
- Minimum two (2) years of
residential or commercial maintenance/construction experience
- Maintenance certifications
(HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical) preferred
- Valid Driver’s License
- HVAC, Plumbing, and
Electrical training preferred
- UPCS training (or
willingness to obtain)
- Must be insurable under
agency vehicle policy
- Ability to work indoors and
outdoors
- Ability to bend, stoop,
climb, and work in confined spaces
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. or
more
- Exposure to
construction-related environmental conditions
- Exposure to moderate
construction-related risks
- Mechanical, electrical,
chemical, and environmental hazards
- Use of required safety gear
and protective equipment
