The Position:
The LCU/HVAC Electrical Engineer at Sungrow North America's Training Center is responsible for developing and delivering technical training programs covering Sungrow's Liquid Cooling Unit (LCU), HVAC, ESS, PCS, and inverter technologies. This role ensures service engineers, vendor partners, and customers gain a clear understanding of system design, operation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Working closely with Product Engineering, R&D, and Service teams, the engineer develops technical documentation, maintains training materials, supports hands-on demonstrations, and continuously improves training programs to promote safe, reliable, and efficient field operations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform onsite commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of Sungrow Liquid Cooling Unit (LCU) and HVAC equipment.
- Travel to customer sites to diagnose equipment issues and provide timely technical support.
- Perform root cause analysis and document troubleshooting activities for service cases.
- Coordinate with Engineering, R&D, and Service teams to resolve complex technical issues.
- Manage service cases, spare parts requests, RMAs, and repair activities to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Inspect, replace, and verify faulty LCU/HVAC components in accordance with Sungrow procedures.
- Prepare service reports, technical documentation, and case updates following field activities.
- Support product validation, field testing, and engineering investigations when required.
- Provide technical feedback from field experience to Product Engineering and R&D to improve product reliability.
- Assist the Training Center with developing technical training materials and demonstrations as needed.
- Support customer visits, product demonstrations, and technical workshops when requested.
- Perform other engineering and field service duties as assigned.
Education or Desired Licenses and Certificates:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, HVAC Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related engineering discipline.
- EPA Section 608 Certification (preferred/required).
- Valid HVAC Technician Certification or equivalent HVAC qualification.
- In-depth knowledge of ESS, PCS, inverter, Liquid Cooling Unit (LCU), and HVAC technologies.
Competencies:
- Minimum two years of relevant engineering, technical support, or technical training experience.
- Proven experience delivering technical training, preferably within the renewable energy industry.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for audiences with varying technical backgrounds.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and virtual training platforms.
- Broad understanding of electrical systems, HVAC systems, construction site safety, and applicable electrical safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated with initiative, accountability, and ownership.
- System-level thinking with strong attention to detail.
- Service-oriented mindset with the ability to support both technical and commercial teams.
- Effective collaboration across multicultural and cross-functional teams.
Travel:
- Up to 50% travel may be required.
Work Location and Status:
- Contract role, Hybrid position based in Houston, TX
- This position will start off as a Contract role
Compensation:
- Compensation commensurate with experience

For candidates in the states of California, Colorado, New York and Washington, the anticipated annual base salary for this role is between $87,000 - $110,000 This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The base salary offered is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, location, or other factors related to the role.
