POSITION SUMMARY

The Adjunct Faculty – Psychology Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in psychology courses for students enrolled in the RN to BSN Program. The instructor promotes student learning through effective teaching strategies that support critical thinking, communication, behavioral science knowledge, and application of psychological principles to nursing and healthcare practice. Instruction may be delivered in on-campus, hybrid, or online formats in accordance with institutional standards and accreditation requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITES

Teach assigned psychology courses in accordance with approved curriculum, course outlines, and student learning outcomes.
Deliver engaging instruction through lectures, discussions, case studies, assignments, and technology-enhanced learning activities.
Integrate psychological concepts with nursing, patient care, and healthcare-related applications.

Facilitate student learning in areas such as

Human behavior and development
Mental health and wellness
Communication and interpersonal relationships
Stress, coping, and behavioral responses
Social and cultural influences on behavior

Develop and maintain course syllabi, lesson plans, instructional materials, assignments, and assessments.
Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently through exams, projects, participation, and written assignments.
Provide timely feedback and academic support to promote student success.
Maintain accurate attendance, grade, and student progress records in accordance with institutional policies.
Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) for communication, grading, and course delivery.
Foster a professional, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment.
Participate in faculty meetings, training, curriculum review, and professional development activities as assigned.
Uphold academic integrity and comply with institutional policies and accreditation standards.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Strong knowledge of psychology principles and behavioral sciences.
Ability to relate psychological concepts to nursing and healthcare practice.
Effective teaching, organizational, and classroom management skills.
Proficiency with instructional technology and learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.).
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
Commitment to student learning, academic excellence, and continuous improvement

QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE

Master’s degree in Psychology or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution, OR
Master’s degree in another discipline with at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in Psychology.
Prior postsecondary or college teaching experience preferred.
