We are looking for Horticulture Interns to join our field team for the Summer 2026 season. This internship is an opportunity to gain practical experience in horticulture and landscape maintenance while working alongside experienced team members on commercial properties throughout the Greater Montreal area.

Every day is different. You’ll learn through hands-on work while contributing directly to the planting, maintenance, and enhancement of green spaces. 🌳

Position details

Status: Full time internship – Summer 2026
Location: LaSalle, QC 📍
Schedule: Shift starts at 6:30 a.m.
Start date: Summer 2026 / according to internship availability
Possibility of long-term employment following the internship (Winter season)

What you will learn and do

🌱 Working alongside our horticulture and landscape teams, you will participate in a variety of field activities while developing your practical skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with planting flowers, shrubs, and seasonal plants 🌸
  • Participate in the preparation, rebuilding, and maintenance of flower beds
  • Learn proper techniques for soil preparation, mulching, edging, and aesthetic finishing
  • Identify and remove weeds manually or using approved ecological methods
  • Assist with the general maintenance and improvement of landscaped areas
  • Learn to safely use landscaping tools and equipment, including:
    • String trimmers
    • Hedge trimmers
    • Leaf blowers
    • Various hand tools
  • Help maintain the cleanliness, health, and visual quality of client sites
  • Learn to identify common plants and recognize basic horticultural maintenance needs
  • Follow horticultural best practices and Strathmore's quality and safety standards
  • Work alongside experienced team members and receive practical guidance in the field
  • Perform other horticulture and landscape-related tasks depending on the needs of each site

💪 This is a hands-on internship. You’ll spend your days outdoors, develop practical horticultural skills, and gain experience in a professional commercial landscaping environment.

What we are looking for 👀

  • Currently enrolled in a horticulture, landscaping, horticultural production, landscape design, or other relevant program
  • Interest in plants, horticulture, landscaping, and outdoor work 🌱
  • Basic horticultural knowledge acquired through your studies
  • Eagerness to learn and develop practical field skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working as part of a team
  • Positive attitude and willingness to take initiative
  • Comfortable working outdoors and performing physical tasks
  • Ability to follow instructions and established safety procedures
  • Previous landscaping or horticulture experience is an asset, but not required

Working conditions 🌤️

This is a field-based internship, and the work is performed primarily outdoors in various weather conditions.

You must be comfortable with:

  • Walking on different types of surfaces
  • Bending and kneeling regularly
  • Lifting and carrying materials
  • Performing repetitive movements
  • Pushing, pulling, or carrying loads
  • Working outdoors for extended periods
