Position Summary
As a Snow Removal Crew Member, you’ll be part of a team responsible for keeping our commercial client properties safe, accessible, and clear of snow and ice throughout the winter season.
When a snow event is forecast, shifts are posted through our mobile app, where you’ll confirm your availability.
This is a direct-to-site position, meaning employees are responsible for having reliable transportation to their assigned work location in Ottawa Central, Nepean, or Barrhaven, at any time of the day or night.
We offer opportunities for both:
24/7 winter availability, with a limited number of guaranteed-hour positions available
Part-time/on-call work for employees looking for flexible winter shifts
💪 This is hands-on outdoor work. You’ll stay active while helping keep our clients’ properties safe during Ottawa’s winter weather!
Major Responsibilities
Shovel and clear snow from sidewalks, walkways, entrances, stairs, ramps, and other designated areas
Apply salt and de-icing materials as required
Maintain clear and safe access to building entrances, emergency exits, and high-traffic areas
Assist with loading, unloading, and handling snow-removal supplies
Complete assigned areas efficiently and within required timeframes
Maintain Strathmore’s quality standards and report any site concerns to your Crew Leader or supervisor
Follow all health and safety procedures while working in winter conditions
Work cooperatively with Crew Leaders and other team members throughout the shift
What You Need to Be Successful
No previous snow removal experience required — training is provided
Previous snow removal, landscaping, construction, or other outdoor labour experience is an asset
Reliable and punctual, especially when confirming a snow-event shift
Must have reliable transportation directly to assigned client sites in Ottawa Central, Nepean, or Barrhaven
Comfortable performing physically demanding work for extended periods
Able to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Comfortable walking, standing, bending, lifting, and shovelling throughout the shift
Able to work outdoors in cold, windy, snowy, and icy conditions
Comfortable working day or night
Must be prepared for shifts of up to 12 hours, depending on snowfall and site requirements
For employees interested in our guaranteed-hours winter positions, 24/7 availability during snow events is required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Part-time and on-call opportunities are also available.
