Position Summary

As a Snow Removal Crew Member, you’ll be part of a team responsible for keeping our commercial client properties safe, accessible, and clear of snow and ice throughout the winter season.

When a snow event is forecast, shifts are posted through our mobile app, where you’ll confirm your availability.

This is a direct-to-site position, meaning employees are responsible for having reliable transportation to their assigned work location in Ottawa Central, Nepean, or Barrhaven, at any time of the day or night.

We offer opportunities for both:

  • 24/7 winter availability, with a limited number of guaranteed-hour positions available

  • Part-time/on-call work for employees looking for flexible winter shifts

💪 This is hands-on outdoor work. You’ll stay active while helping keep our clients’ properties safe during Ottawa’s winter weather!

Major Responsibilities

  • Shovel and clear snow from sidewalks, walkways, entrances, stairs, ramps, and other designated areas

  • Apply salt and de-icing materials as required

  • Maintain clear and safe access to building entrances, emergency exits, and high-traffic areas

  • Assist with loading, unloading, and handling snow-removal supplies

  • Complete assigned areas efficiently and within required timeframes

  • Maintain Strathmore’s quality standards and report any site concerns to your Crew Leader or supervisor

  • Follow all health and safety procedures while working in winter conditions

  • Work cooperatively with Crew Leaders and other team members throughout the shift

What You Need to Be Successful

  • No previous snow removal experience required — training is provided

  • Previous snow removal, landscaping, construction, or other outdoor labour experience is an asset

  • Reliable and punctual, especially when confirming a snow-event shift

  • Must have reliable transportation directly to assigned client sites in Ottawa Central, Nepean, or Barrhaven

  • Comfortable performing physically demanding work for extended periods

  • Able to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 lbs

  • Comfortable walking, standing, bending, lifting, and shovelling throughout the shift

  • Able to work outdoors in cold, windy, snowy, and icy conditions

  • Comfortable working day or night

  • Must be prepared for shifts of up to 12 hours, depending on snowfall and site requirements

For employees interested in our guaranteed-hours winter positions, 24/7 availability during snow events is required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Part-time and on-call opportunities are also available.
