Position Summary:
About the Practice
We are standing up a new Digital Advisory practice — including a value-added reseller (VAR) practice — to help middle-market clients modernize their core business systems and get measurable value from technology. We advise, select, implement, and optimize modern ERP and connected business platforms, and we go deep in four verticals: healthcare, construction, not-for-profit, and manufacturing. Deep, industry-specific expertise is central to how we differentiate — we serve clients as specialists who understand their business, not generalists — so relevant experience in these industries is highly valued across every role.
This is a build-from-the-ground-up opportunity. As a founding member of the practice you will help shape our service offerings, delivery methodology, partner alliances, and culture — with the backing, brand, and client base of an established firm behind you. We are in the process of selecting our anchor platform partners from among the leading mid-market ERP and business-application publishers, and early team members will help define that ecosystem.
Role Summary
The Business Development Lead owns the top of the funnel and the growth engine for the practice. You will build pipeline from scratch — sourcing, qualifying, and closing digital advisory and ERP implementation engagements across our four target verticals. You will partner closely with the Managing Partner and Solution Architect to shape offerings, activate our software-publisher alliances and co-sell programs, and turn Sorren’s existing client relationships into a durable book of business.
Key Responsibilities
Build and manage a qualified pipeline of digital advisory and ERP/VAR opportunities across construction, healthcare, not-for-profit, and manufacturing.
Own the full sales cycle: prospecting, discovery, solution positioning (with the Solution Architect), proposal, negotiation, and close.
Develop and execute the go-to-market plan, including referral channels from Sorren’s existing CPA and advisory client base.
Help establish and manage relationships with our anchor software-publisher partners and their co-sell programs to drive sourced and influenced pipeline.
Support the practice’s inorganic growth agenda, including contributing to M&A targeting and partner-driven demand.
Maintain accurate pipeline, forecast, and activity reporting; hit agreed opportunity, assessment, and bookings targets.
Represent Sorren at industry events, associations, and in our key markets (including Illinois, Colorado, Texas, and Idaho).
Qualifications
Required
7+ years of B2B business development or sales, with a track record selling ERP, technology consulting, professional services, or software solutions.
Demonstrated success building pipeline and closing complex, consultative deals from early-stage relationships.
Comfort operating in a start-up / build phase — self-directed, resourceful, and able to create process where none exists.
Strong executive presence and consultative selling skills.
Preferred
Deep familiarity with, and an existing network in, one or more of our target industries — healthcare, construction, not-for-profit, or manufacturing — particularly in our key markets (Illinois, Colorado, Texas, Idaho).
Experience working within software-publisher partner or co-sell programs.
Familiarity with the mid-market ERP and business-application landscape.
CPA or MBA
Compensation
Target base salary range of $130,000–$170,000 with on-target earnings (OTE) of $220,000–$300,000 through a commission and incentive plan tied to bookings and sourced pipeline. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Discretionary incentive compensation is based on firm, group, and individual performance.
