Site Shift Supervisor - About the Role

We’re looking for a confident and capable Site Shift Supervisor to oversee site operations during allocated shifts and act as the Emergency Duty Manager when required. This is a key leadership role, ensuring the site runs safely, efficiently, and in line with operational standards.

You’ll be the senior point of contact during your shift, responsible for leading a team of 5 - 10 shift personnel, managing incidents, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and supervise site operations during your shift, ensuring safety, quality, and performance targets are met.
  • Act as Emergency Duty Manager, taking charge of any incidents and coordinating appropriate responses.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and internal procedures.
  • Provide clear leadership and support to shift teams, promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with other departments and external stakeholders to resolve operational issues.
  • Complete accurate shift reports, incident logs, and handovers.
  • Support training and development activities, including occasional cover using reserved hours.

About You

  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role within an operational, manufacturing, or industrial setting.
  • Strong understanding of emergency response and incident management.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills, especially under pressure.
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams across day and night shifts.
  • Knowledge of health & safety and environmental compliance.

Desirable Qualifications

  • NEBOSH or IOSH certification.
  • First Aid and Fire Marshal training.
  • Experience in chemical, energy, or heavy industry sectors.
