Position Summary

 

The Project Director - Iraq oversees project execution of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts for a combined cycle power plant conversion projects in Kirkuk, Iraq, with more projects under MOU to be added to the portfolio. The project will add to Iraq’s power generation capacity. You will be responsible for a Project Team located in Iraq, the nearby region, and in the U.S. You will direct the planning, staffing, contracting, and project execution of the project and assure that the goals and objectives of the project are accomplished meeting safety, quality, schedule, and budget requirements. You will ensure the project execution follows Export Credit Agency (ECA) financing requirements from various ECA’s including the US Exim Bank, SACE (Italy), Turk Eximbank, and others, as well as internal governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consistent and clear written and verbal communication with the client (Iraq MoE), internal project staff, SEGI leadership, and all suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the overall safety, quality, schedule and financial management of the project in alignment with a shared governance model with the Executive Leadership Team and Business Unit President.
  • Financial accountability for the project including revenue, margins, and cash flow
  • Manage engineering and construction contractor tendering, selection, negotiation and performance
  • Ensure compliance with client expectations and contractual requirements
  • Oversight of major global power generation equipment suppliers including steam turbine generators, heat recovery steam generators (HRSG’s), air cooled condensers (ACC’s), and electrical equipment.
  • Exhibit strong risk management skills - identify risks, solve potential problems, and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare client and senior management progress reports and addresses issues as appropriate.
  • Establishes operating procedures for the project, and ensures procedures meet program goals.

Qualifications

Required

  • Prior Combined Cycle Power EPC Project Management experience is required
  • Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or management related discipline
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in project and / or construction management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Deep understanding of the culture and customs of the client country

Preferred

  • Experience on government power projects (Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia)
  • Master’s degree in construction, engineering, or management related discipline
  • 5 years’ experience in the power, oil & gas, process and / or district energy industries
  • Certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent

Work Authorization

The candidate must be able to qualify for and obtain either visit or work visas for the projects in various countries, including Iraq, outside of the candidate’s home country.
