About this role

Job DetailsJob Location: HGC Columbus - Columbus, OH 43215BUILDER WANTED. Project Engineer

Not just a Project Engineer. A Builder.

You build organization. You build communication. You build the connections between plans, people, and progress that keep a project moving forward. You’re in the details every day—coordinating information, supporting the field, tracking what matters, and helping the team turn plans into finished work.

At HGC Construction, we’re looking for a Project Engineer who takes pride in being organized, solving problems, and working alongside Project Managers, superintendents, and trade partners to get the job done right. You’ll support projects from planning through closeout while gaining hands-on experience in the work it takes to deliver safely, on schedule, within budget, and to our quality standards.

We believe exceptional projects are built by exceptional people who share our values. We know our employees are more than their job titles—they’re people with families, interests, and lives beyond work. That’s why we work hard, support one another, celebrate wins together, and create opportunities for growth.

Our teams are united by a commitment to quality, integrity, and doing the right thing. We’re not just building structures—we’re building careers, relationships, and a legacy that lasts.

What You’ll Build

Support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction from start through closeout, monitoring schedules and budgets to keep projects on track.
Collaborate with engineers, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams; support subcontractor and vendor management to promote timely, quality execution.
Support site activities, conduct inspections to verify progress and compliance with project specifications, design requirements, and quality standards, and promote adherence to jobsite safety protocols.
Assist with preparing and reviewing proposals, contracts, and change orders, and coordinate procurement of materials and equipment to keep projects moving.
Maintain client communication, provide progress updates, help address concerns, and participate in project meetings to share updates on progress and challenges.
Prepare and maintain project documentation, including reports, schedules, and meeting minutes, and support closeout and evaluation to help ensure quality and client satisfaction.
Help resolve field issues and conflicts, identify project risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.

The Bottom Line

This role is for someone who wants to learn the business by being part of the work. You’ll get involved in the details that drive successful projects, work alongside experienced construction professionals, and build the knowledge and experience to take on greater responsibility as you grow.

We’re not looking for someone to simply track paperwork. We’re looking for someone who stays organized, asks questions, solves problems, supports the team, and takes pride in helping build work that lasts. If that sounds like you, let’s build something great together.
