Not just a Preconstruction Manager. A Builder.
You build clarity before construction begins. You build alignment between clients, designers, estimators, trade partners, and operations. You turn early ideas into a coordinated plan—bringing design, budget, schedule, procurement, and constructability together so projects are positioned for success before they ever break ground.
At HGC Construction, we’re looking for a Preconstruction Manager who can lead the front end of complex projects with confidence. You’ll guide design development, drive critical decisions and milestones, keep teams aligned with client goals, and create a smooth transition from preconstruction to operations.
A Legacy of Building Careers
At HGC Construction, we’re building for the long haul.
We believe exceptional projects are built by exceptional people who share our values. We know our employees are more than their job titles—they’re people with families, interests, and lives beyond work. That’s why we work hard, support one another, celebrate wins together, and create opportunities for growth.
Our teams are united by a commitment to quality, integrity, and doing the right thing. We’re not just building structures—we’re building careers, relationships, and a legacy that lasts.
What You’ll Build
Serve as the primary contact for clients and design partners throughout preconstruction, communicating progress, constraints, and opportunities while keeping expectations aligned with design, budget, and schedule.
Lead project visioning, scope alignment, and phasing strategies, bringing internal and external teams together to keep preconstruction efforts aligned and moving forward.
Coordinate architects, engineers, and consultants to meet budget, schedule, constructability, procurement, and cost objectives; lead design reviews and track progress against program needs and project milestones.
Collaborate with Estimators to understand and present milestone budgets and cost plans without performing takeoffs; identify budget risks and scope gaps, guide reconciliation strategies, and lead value management discussions with design and ownership teams.
Guide early trade partner involvement, procurement schedules, packaging strategies, and early bid releases; coordinate key subcontractor input, manage critical vendor relationships, and prequalify partners as needed.
Lead high-level project scheduling across preconstruction milestones, design deliverables, permitting, and early enabling work, incorporating input from design, estimating, and operations teams.
Represent HGC Construction in preconstruction meetings, presentations, and interviews.
Create a coordinated handoff to operations that positions the project team for successful execution.
QualificationsWhat You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of construction experience, including at least 3 years in a preconstruction leadership or project management capacity.
Experience working on complex commercial or institutional projects.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
Deep understanding of project phasing, delivery methods including CMAR, GMP, and Design-Build, and value management processes.
Familiarity with budgeting principles, construction means and methods, and permitting processes.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to lead teams through ambiguity.
Experience facilitating design coordination and early-stage decision-making.
The Bottom Line
This role is for someone who knows that successful projects are built long before construction begins. You’ll bring people, priorities, and information together early—helping clients and project teams make informed decisions while keeping design, budget, schedule, and constructability aligned.
We’re not looking for someone to simply manage the preconstruction process. We’re looking for someone who creates clarity, builds trust, drives decisions, and sets teams up to build successfully. If that sounds like you, let’s build something great together.
