Working alongside Breast Care Nurses and Radiologists, you'll play an important role in ensuring patients receive a high standard of care within a safe, professional and welcoming environment. This is a varied position where your support will contribute directly to the smooth running of the service and the overall patient experience. 

About the Role

As a Health Care Assistant (HCA), you will support the Breast Care Nurses and Radiologists in delivering a safe, efficient and high-quality service to patients attending the department.

This is a varied role combining patient support, clinical preparation and departmental administration. You'll help maintain clinical rooms and equipment, manage stock levels, keep patient records up to date and support the smooth day-to-day running of the Breast Care service. Your role will help ensure patients receive care in a clean, organised and professional environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of care to meet patients' health and wellbeing needs
• Assist Breast Care Nurses and Radiologists in the delivery of a high-quality service
• Ensure the ultrasound room is clean, safe and prepared for patient appointments
• Maintain breast care trolleys, ensuring they are clean and appropriately stocked
• Keep the Breast Register accurate and up to date
• Undertake stock-taking activities and support effective stock management within the department.
• Manage routine communication with colleagues, patients and external contacts via telephone and email
• Support infection prevention, clinical governance, risk management and health and safety practices within the department

Who we're looking for:

• NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care
• Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within a hospital environment.
• Good understanding of basic nursing care 
• Basic awareness of health, safety and hygiene principles
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Proactive, empathetic and adaptable approach to work
• Able to manage sensitive situations professionally and appropriately
• Good numerical skills with a flexible approach to work

Contract: Permanent | Full Time

Days/Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday 11:00 - 19:00, 08:00 - 16:00, 10:00 - 18:00, 09.30 - 17:30 and 07.30- 15.30, Saturday as and when required
