Build something from scratch
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join Speedy Freight as we launch and build our presence in Southern Ireland.
We’re looking for an ambitious, commercially driven Business Development Manager who wants more than an established patch and a list of accounts to manage. This is a blank canvas — you’ll be the first person on the ground, responsible for creating opportunities, winning customers and building the foundations of our Irish operation.
You’ll have the backing, systems and experience of an established international logistics business, but the freedom to make your mark and shape how we grow in Ireland.
What you'll be doing...
Take ownership of business development across Southern Ireland, identifying and targeting new commercial opportunities.
- Build a strong pipeline from scratch through proactive prospecting, networking, referrals and market development.
- Identify businesses with complex, urgent or specialist transport requirements and demonstrate how Speedy Freight can help.
- Develop relationships with decision-makers across a range of sectors and turn conversations into long-term customers.
- Manage the full sales process — from initial prospecting through to negotiation, onboarding and account development.
- Build a strong understanding of the Irish market, competitors and customer needs.
- Work closely with our wider Speedy Freight team to ensure opportunities are converted into successful customer relationships.
- Help shape our approach to the Irish market as we grow, feeding back what works and where we should focus next.
- Own your targets, activity and pipeline, with a real opportunity to influence the growth of the territory.
What we are looking for...
We’re looking for someone who is commercially hungry, entrepreneurial and comfortable creating something from nothing.
You’ll ideally have:
- Proven experience in a B2B Business Development / Sales role, ideally within logistics, freight, transport or another service-led environment.
- A strong track record of new business development and winning new customers.
- The confidence to pick up the phone, open doors and create relationships from cold.
- A consultative approach — able to understand a customer's challenges rather than simply sell a service.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- The resilience and self-motivation to work remotely and build a new territory independently.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A genuine appetite for growth, ownership and getting stuck in.
You don't necessarily need to have worked in logistics before. What's more important is that you understand how to sell, build relationships and develop a territory — we'll give you the support and knowledge to understand our industry.
Why Speedy Freight?
This isn't an opportunity to inherit an established territory. You'll be building one.
You'll have the chance to:
Be the first Speedy Freight employee on the ground in Ireland.
Have genuine ownership of a new territory and the opportunity to shape its success.
Build a customer base and pipeline from the ground up.
Work with an established logistics brand with the support, systems and expertise behind you.
Have the freedom and flexibility of a remote-based role.
Travel across Ireland, meeting customers and developing relationships face-to-face.
Play a key role in shaping Speedy Freight's next stage of growth.

Employment in Ireland
The successful candidate will be employed in Ireland through our appointed Employer of Record, who will manage local payroll and employment administration. The role will be fully integrated into Speedy Freight, with day-to-day management, objectives and responsibilities sitting with the business.
