Objective/Summary: 

The Product Engineer is responsible for the design, development, documentation, and continuous improvement of furniture, fixtures, and other manufactured products from concept through production. This role combines engineering principles, CAD design, product development, and manufacturing knowledge to create products that meet customer requirements while optimizing quality, cost, manufacturability, and performance.

The Product Engineer collaborates closely with customers, sales, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and management teams to ensure products are production-ready and meet business and customer objectives. 

Key Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Develop new proprietary and custom products that meet customer, market, and business requirements. 
  • Support product development activities from concept through production launch. 
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings. 
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible, efficient, and cost-effective to produce. 
  • Ensure engineering documentation complies with company standards and manufacturing requirements. 
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles throughout the development process. 
  • Resolve production, quality, and assembly issues through engineering analysis and corrective action. 
  • Support prototype builds, pilot runs, and production launches. 

Secondary Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Evaluate, process, and implement Engineering Change Requests. 
  • Identify opportunities for product improvement, cost reduction, quality enhancement, and process optimization. 
  • Perform applicable tests to ensure products meet safety, performance, and durability requirements. 
  • Collaborate with sourcing and supply chain teams to identify suitable materials and components. 
  • Provide technical support to sales, customer service, and end users. 
  • Other duties as assigned  

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Product/ Mechanical design or a related field
  • Three to five years of related work experience
  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience
