About this role

Job purpose

Sonwil is seeking a highly analytical, hands-on Industrial Engineer to identify efficiencies, improve productivity, reduce costs, and support scalable growth across our distribution, warehousing, transportation, logistics, and support operations.

Duties and responsibilities

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance.
  • Conduct operational assessments and workflow studies across warehousing, transportation, logistics, and support functions.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects from analysis through implementation and results validation.
  • Develop and maintain process maps, standard operating procedures, and workflow documentation.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate waste and improve efficiency.


Warehouse & Distribution Engineering

  • Analyze warehouse layouts, slotting strategies, picking methods, travel paths, and storage utilization.
  • Evaluate labor utilization, staffing models, productivity metrics, and workforce deployment.
  • Recommend process changes, automation opportunities, equipment improvements, and facility modifications.
  • Support new customer implementations by designing efficient operational workflows.
  • Assist with distribution center expansion, relocation, and facility optimization projects.


Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Develop operational dashboards and performance scorecards.
  • Analyze KPI trends including:
    • Throughput
    • Labor productivity
    • Inventory accuracy
    • Cycle times
    • Order accuracy
    • Dock-to-stock performance
    • Utilization rates
    • Overtime usage
    • Cost per unit metrics
  • Conduct time studies and labor standards analysis.
  • Quantify financial impact of improvement opportunities and implemented changes.


Strategic Project Support

  • Support business growth initiatives through operational modeling and capacity planning.
  • Partner with Operations, Safety, Transportation, Facilities, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Finance teams on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Participate in capital expenditure evaluations and ROI analyses.
  • Assist leadership with long-term facility and network planning.


Change Management

  • Present findings and recommendations to operational and executive leadership.
  • Facilitate improvement workshops and employee engagement sessions.
  • Provide training and support during implementation of new processes.
  • Monitor project outcomes and ensure sustained operational improvements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in: Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain Engineering, Operations Management, Related field
  • Relevant experience in lieu of degree would also be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial engineering, continuous improvement, warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience conducting process mapping and workflow analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. 
  • Ability to analyze large data sets and develop actionable recommendations
  • Proficient with CAD software. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.


Preferred

  • Knowledge of automation technologies
  • Experience within a warehouse, distribution, logistics, or 3PL environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with: Labor management systems (LMS); Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Power BI; SQL

Safety Requirements

  • Comply with all posted safety requirements and company safety policies while in headquarters and operational areas.
  • Wear closed-toed shoes while in warehouse, fulfillment, or other operational areas.
  • Wear a safety vest and any other required personal protective equipment as directed by company policy, customer requirements, or site-specific procedures.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods during the assigned shift.
  • Ability to bend, reach, climb, and perform other physical movements required in a warehouse and fulfillment environment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, as operationally required.
