Senior Technical Manager - Land Development

Soltesz is seeking a highly experienced Senior Technical Manager – Land Development to join our Rockville office. This role is designed for an accomplished civil engineering professional who wants to remain focused on technical leadership, quality, and problem-solving while helping shape engineering excellence across a wide range of land development projects. 

Unlike traditional management positions, this role is not focused on project management, budgets, staffing, or business development. Instead, the Senior Technical Manager serves as a trusted technical authority, providing expert guidance, quality assurance, and engineering leadership across the organization. 

What You'll Do

As a Senior Technical Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting project teams and maintaining Soltesz's commitment to technical excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

• Serve as a senior technical resource for land development engineering projects
• Provide expert guidance on site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, and roadway design
• Perform advanced technical reviews of engineering plans, calculations, reports, and supporting documentation
• Assist project teams in developing innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges
• Advise on regulatory compliance and jurisdictional requirements
• Support quality assurance and quality control initiatives across the firm
• Promote technical best practices and engineering standards
• Provide technical leadership and sound engineering judgment throughout project development without responsibility for staffing, budgets, or schedules 

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Maryland preferred but not required
• 20+ years of progressive land development civil engineering experience
• Extensive knowledge of Maryland land development regulations and local jurisdiction requirements
• Strong technical expertise in site development, grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility, and roadway design
• Proven ability to perform senior-level technical review and engineering analysis
• Excellent problem-solving skills and engineering judgment
• Commitment to technical excellence and continuous improvement
