About Smile Starters
Smile Starters is a general dental practice serving children and young adults ages 1 through 20. We are dedicated to educating our patients on best practices for optimal oral health between visits. Working with the youngest members of our community allows us to achieve long-term results, which is highly rewarding for our team of Hygienists, Assistants, and Dentists. Many of our former patients now bring their own children to us — a testament to the quality care we provide.
This position allows you to work in a collaborative team setting alongside like-minded dental professionals in a positive and supportive environment.
We are recruiting for a part time Assistant for our North Charlotte OR Dental Center on Wednesdays each week.
Hours are 6am-3pm.
Responsibilities include
Prior to patient’s arrival
Set Up:Set up back table and front table
Log in to computer systems
Save x-rays (Pictures, Downloads, or Desktop)
Back Table Prep
Adjust and set up
Dental chair
Light
Chairs
Table
Rheostat
Chairside Prep
Glove and gown up prior to doctor entering
Suction throat
Place throat pack
Coronal polish
Between Cases
Delete x-rays from computer
Pull up x-rays for next OR case
Immediately After TP Out
Call out on the overhead
Record TP Out time on dry erase board
Record TP Out and Time Out in charts
Pull up next patient’s chart
Begin cleaning and breaking down room
During Downtime
Restock cart
Gather supplies for next procedure
Put away sterilized instruments
Take cart inventory
Reminder
Try to always be proactive instead of reactive when possible.
Skills & Attributes
Proven experience as a dental assistant
Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
Understanding of health and safety regulations
Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks (e.g., coronal polishing) is a plus
Strong computer skills for scheduling and record-keeping
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented, organized, and reliable
Thrives in a busy, active work environment
Additional certifications or training are an asset
Bilingual abilities a plus

CPR Certification
Coronal Polishing Certification
Nitrous Oxide (N2O) Certification a plus
Graduate of an accredited dental assistant program
