Java Developer / Software Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Java Developer / Software Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Java/J2EE, PySpark/Spark, AWS services, ETL and streaming data pipelines, and Agile delivery.
The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to design, build, deploy, and operate resilient data pipelines and cloud-based applications. Experience with modern infrastructure-as-code practices and emerging LLM technologies is a plus.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance Java/J2EE applications and data pipeline solutions.
Build and support ETL and streaming data pipelines using PySpark/Spark.
Leverage AWS services including SQS, Lambda, S3, and RDS for application and data workflows.
Develop secure, scalable, and resilient cloud-based solutions.
Participate in Agile development practices and ceremonies.
Troubleshoot and resolve application and data pipeline issues.
Contribute across the full software engineering lifecycle, including analysis, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Apply best practices around CI/CD, TDD, cloud development, application resiliency, and security.
Required Skills & Qualifications
5+ years of applied software engineering experience with relevant training and/or certification.
Strong proficiency in Java/J2EE application development and common design techniques.
Extensive hands-on experience with PySpark/Spark.
Strong experience developing and supporting ETL and streaming data pipelines.
Hands-on experience with AWS services such as:
SQS
Lambda
S3
RDS
Advanced proficiency in Python and/or Java.
Understanding of CI/CD, TDD, cloud development, application resiliency, and security.
Working knowledge of software engineering disciplines including analysis, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Strong experience working within an Agile delivery environment.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Shell scripting on Unix/Linux systems.
Proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Familiarity with modern LLM techniques.
Practical experience developing LLM use cases using OpenAI/Azure.
Requirements
USC / GC / GC EAD only.
No third-party or C2C profiles.
Texas local candidates highly preferred.
Location: Houston, TX or Plano, TX.
