Position Summary
The Certified Nurse's Aide provides non-professional nursing services and aid to residents with their activities of daily living (ADL) under the supervision of a licensed practical nurse or a registered professional nurse.

Key Responsibilities
The Certified Nurse's Aide is supervised by the nurse in charge of unit. The job duties and responsibilities are to be performed while observing the following standards: job standard (knowledge, ability, skills), technical skill, quality, quantity, judgement/problem solving, decision making, and initiative. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Responsible for knowing and following resident's plan of care via verbal report, door cards and review of care plans.
Assist and/or perform the activities of daily living for assigned residents including, but not limited to, giving baths, oral care, personal care, dressing, feeding and toileting.
Assist and transport residents to therapy, activities, beauty shop and other destinations.
Distribute nourishments accurately and timely as directed in resident's care plan.
Assist resident with exercise, ambulation and range of motion as directed by the total plan of care.
Distribute and provide resident with clean linen and other supplies as needed.
Make beds and dispose of soiled linens.
Maintain resident rooms in an orderly, clean and safe manner.
Empty foley suprapubic, nephrostomy bags, measure output and report to nurse and collect specimens as needed.
Report and document the intake, output and unusual signs or symptoms and the total care given to the resident daily.
Give post mortem care and dispose of personal belongings as instructed.
Set up a completely clean unit prior to admission of new resident.
Clean utensils as needed.
Follow proper precaution/isolation procedures.
Turn residents and/or release restraints at scheduled times.

QualificationsQualifications
Education and Training - Successful completion of New York State Department of Health mandated clinical and written/oral exams for certification with current registration in good standing according to the New York State Department of Health Nurse's Aide Registry. The individual must maintain a minimum of six (6) hours of continuing education semi-annually.
Experience - Experience in a nursing home beneficial, but will consider newly trained aides.
Character - The individual must possess good moral character, patience, and compassion for the elderly.
