VPT, Inc., a global leader in providing power conversion solutions for use in avionics, military, space and industrial applications, is seeking a full-time Receiving Inspector for their office in Blacksburg, VA.
This position in the Quality Department will report to the Material Quality Supervisor. The Receiving Inspector ensures that all incoming raw materials, electronic components (capacitors, diodes, magnetics, PCBs, etc.), and mechanical parts (housings, hardware) meet strict company specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards before they are accepted into inventory or released to the production floor.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections on incoming components and raw materials using tools like calipers, micrometers, and microscopes.
- Verify component documentation, including Certificates of Conformance (CoC), manufacturer datasheets, and packing slips against purchase orders.
- Execute electrical or functional testing where applicable (e.g., verifying resistance, capacitance, or diode polarity using digital multimeters or LCR meters).
- Identify and segregate non-conforming materials, issue Material Rejection Reports (MRRs), and place physical "Hold" tags on defective lots.
- Document and log inspection results accurately in the company ERP or Quality Management System (QMS).
- Screen for counterfeit components, checking for suspicious markings, sanding marks, or poor packaging, especially when sourcing from independent distributors.

The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $16.00 - $22.00 per hour.

Requirements: The ideal candidate will have:
- 2+ years of experience in QA/QC inspection within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and component datasheets.
- Familiar with IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) is highly preferred
- Proficiency with precision measuring hand tools (calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, etc.)
- Proficiency with basic electronic test equipment (LCR meters, multimeters)
- High attention to detail is required to ensure material conformance
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams)

Education:
- Associates degree or applicable Technical Program Certificate preferred
