About this role

Educational and Supportive services to patients and families that are directed toward issues related to addiction and recovery processes.


  • May need to complete substance use assessments and then reach out to a master level person with the criteria that meets a substance use diagnosis for the completion of the assessment.
  • Provides counseling services to individuals, groups, and families.
  • Participates in assessment and treatment planning as appropriate.
  • Documents all services provided and other significant behavior or incidents.
  • Serves as a role model and source of feedback to the client.
  • Intervenes in crisis situations using the approved Ukeru
  • If a Seeking Safety family referral the expectation is to work with the family in-home
  • Provides structure, discipline and security as outlined the by individual plan of care to meet the needs of the client.
  • Communicates with all staff members and shares appropriate information with appropriate staff about treatment needs.
  • Involves staff members, when possible, in appropriate activities.
  • Reports and maintains a referral log for patients.
  • May need to help with admission into an inpatient program..
  • Reports critical incidents to DCF verbally within 12 hours, written within 24 hours.
  • Implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives as required. Follows and adheres to all pertinent Saint Francis Ministries Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), rules, personnel policies, and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state and local rules, statutes, regulations, and all term of the contract between Saint Francis Ministries and DCF.
  • Reports unusual incidents through appropriate Risk Management, clinical and safety channels.
  • Ensures clients’ rights are protected. Makes sure all clients have received their rights and maintains a signed copy in each resident file.
  • Is knowledgeable of and follows all safety procedures.
Qualifications
    • Prefer bachelor’s degree in human services field.

    Licensed addiction counselor with BSRB

    Willing to accept student and temp licenses for grant funded positions or during internships.

    • Prefer one year experience in alcohol and/or drug abuse field or human services.
    • Must be 21 years of age.
    • Must pass an MVR, KBI and Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Clearance check.
    • FBI Fingerprint Check
    • Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
