About this role

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Uphold Martco vision and values: respect, integrity, commitment, honesty, excellence, and stewardship
  • Develop a strong understanding of the company's products, manufacturing capabilities, product specifications, applications, pricing considerations, and customer markets
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with existing and prospective customers through regular communication and responsive service
  • Support assigned customer accounts and progressively assume responsibility for account management and sales activities
  • Assist customers with product availability, specifications, pricing, order status, delivery expectations, and other sales-related needs
  • Identify potential sales opportunities within existing accounts and prospective markets
  • Partner with senior sales team members to learn account management, negotiation, pricing, forecasting, and customer development strategies
  • Assist with preparing quotes, pricing information, sales proposals, and other customer communications
  • Monitor market conditions, customer activity, competitive products, and industry trends and communicate relevant information
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, logistics, customer service, credit, and other internal departments to support customer commitments and resolve issues
  • Develop an understanding of production capabilities and inventory levels to effectively align customer needs with available products
  • Maintain accurate customer, sales, pricing, and activity information within applicable systems
  • Participate in customer visits, industry events, trade shows, and other business development activities as needed
  • Respond to customer concerns promptly and work collaboratively with internal teams to identify appropriate solutions



Job Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Sales, Forestry, Wood Products, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered
  • Previous experience in wood products, building materials, manufacturing, distribution, or a business-to-business sales environment
  • Ability and willingness to develop knowledge of wood products, manufacturing processes, industry terminology, product specifications, and applicable markets
  • Basic understanding of sales principles and customer relationship management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn CRM and other business systems
  • Ability to analyze basic sales, pricing, inventory, and customer information
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer locations, manufacturing facilities, trade shows, and industry events as required
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet applicable company travel requirements
