General Summary
- Assists registered pharmacist in the routine formulation, preparation and dispensing of medication orders to inpatients and outpatients.
- Rounds to the nursing stations as scheduled. Delivers medications and IV solutions after they have been checked by a registered Pharmacist. Retrieves physician orders and communication slips.
- Screens incoming orders to determine routing to IV room and/or dispensing area. STAT and NOW orders are immediately brought to the attention of the RPh.
- Issues supplies to other hospital departments to improve various department programs and procedures.
- Operates Meditech Pharmacy Modules as trained
- Recommends to the Director of Pharmacy ways to improve various departments programs and procedures.
- Assists in training technician trainees.
- Demonstrates the use of correct telephone communication technique both in receiving and initiating calls.
- Answers questions from hospital personnel and patients appropriately or directs them to the proper authority.
- Attends pharmacy staff meeting and in-service programs.
- Maintains clean and orderly work area.
- Prepare IV Admixtures as trained
- Repackages drugs in unit dose containers and has them checked by RPh before releasing into Pharmacy stock.
Other Marginal Job Functions as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- High school graduate
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be licensed by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulations as a Pharmacy Technician.
