Network Field Service Engineer, Preston

Roc Technologies is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Network Field Service Engineer to join our dedicated on-site team in Preston.

This is a hands-on, operational role responsible for maintaining and supporting our client's network infrastructure, ensuring contractual service levels are consistently achieved and delivering an exceptional customer experience. You will play a key role in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting network equipment across the campus environment.

As a Network Field Service Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Installing and commissioning network switches and associated infrastructure
  • Configuring switching environments and network equipment
  • Configuring and supporting Juniper Wireless Access Points
  • Diagnosing and resolving wired network issues, escalating where appropriate
  • Maintaining network availability through routine maintenance and preventative activities
  • Replacing faulty network hardware, including switches, wireless access points, and associated peripherals
  • Troubleshooting incidents and keeping customers informed throughout the resolution process
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records within Roc's IT Service Management platform
  • Working as part of an on-call rota to provide support for Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents, including on-site attendance when required
  • Liaising with third-party vendors and support providers to progress incidents and requests
  • Delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:

Technical Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Juniper switching and wireless technologies
  • Understanding of network infrastructure and LAN cabling best practices
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve network-related issues

Experience

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing IT support or network support role
  • Experience working within a team environment
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational setting

Desirable Skills

  • Hands-on Juniper networking experience
  • Network security knowledge
  • Network cabling installation, surveying, and infrastructure experience

Additional Information

  • Participation in an on-call support rota is required.
  • A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be completed shortly after commencement of employment.
  • This role is fully site-based in Preston.
