Responsibilities
Radio.co
The Music Manager administers and curates the RMU Radio music library and playlists through Radio.co. Responsibilities include:

Maintaining a relevant and diverse music library featuring current popular music, established artists, emerging artists, and appropriate specialty programming.

Downloading, organizing, uploading, labeling, and maintaining music tracks within the Radio.co system.

Reaching out to RMU students, alumni, campus groups, and local musicians to solicit music for RMU Radio’s Local Musicians programming block.

Creating specialty playlists for campus events, holidays, promotions, themed programming, and other AMC initiatives.

Uploading and scheduling advertisements, promotional material, station imaging, podcasts, and other non-music content to create variety within automated programming.

Coordinating with the Program Director to ensure music and automated programming meet station standards and do not interfere with scheduled live programming.

Programming music blocks during otherwise unscheduled or “dead air” periods to maintain continuous, intentional programming.

Creating playlists for remote broadcasts, campus events, and other AMC activities using Spotify, Apple Music, Radio.co, and other appropriate platforms.
Rockbot Music Management
The Music Manager serves as a student administrator and curator for the AMC’s use of Rockbot and helps develop a consistent RMU music experience across participating campus spaces.

Curating and maintaining Rockbot playlists appropriate for different campus locations, audiences, events, and times of day.

Creating and managing Rockbot music schedules so appropriate playlists automatically run during designated hours.

Reviewing and refreshing playlists regularly to prevent excessive repetition and keep campus music programming current.

Using Rockbot’s playlist, genre, energy, and content-rating tools to create music environments appropriate for the university setting.

Creating specialty and seasonal programming for holidays, athletic events, admissions events, student activities, Homecoming, orientation, and other university initiatives.

Importing or adapting approved Spotify and Apple Music playlists for use within Rockbot when appropriate.

Monitoring Rockbot playback and making real-time adjustments when necessary.

Helping establish and maintain RMU standards for appropriate music, including explicit-content restrictions and other programming guidelines.

Monitoring and managing listener song requests and voting features when Rockbot Request is active.

Working with AMC staff and other university stakeholders to develop playlists tailored to specific campus spaces or initiatives.

Troubleshooting basic Rockbot hardware, playback, connectivity, scheduling, and account issues and escalating technical problems to the appropriate AMC staff member or Radio and Television Engineer.

Exploring new ways Rockbot can be used to extend the presence and identity of RMU Radio throughout campus.
Radio Club & AMC Support

The Music Manager coordinates with Radio Club officers to support regular club meetings and activities and attends meetings as a representative of the Academic Media Center when requested.

The Music Manager works closely with the RMU Radio Program Director and other AMC student staff to coordinate station programming, promotions, special events, and music initiatives.

The Music Manager promptly communicates technical problems involving Radio.co, Rockbot, or associated playback systems to the staff Radio and Television Engineer and assists with troubleshooting when appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications

All majors are welcome, regardless of prior experience in radio or music programming. An interest in music, radio, audio production, media, or entertainment programming is strongly encouraged.

The ideal candidate should be organized, dependable, comfortable learning new technology, and interested in discovering and curating music for a diverse university audience.

Active membership in Radio Club before and during the work-study position is strongly encouraged.
