Compensation: Pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to job-specific requirements, individual experience, internal pay equity, and organizational needs/budget considerations, all in alignment with our RML's compensation philosophy. Additionally, you may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program based on both individual and organizational performance.

Supervises Environmental Services (EVS) staff and daily operations to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary hospital environment. Promotes infection prevention, customer service, and compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. Oversees staff scheduling, training, performance management, quality assurance activities, and the safe use of equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
Reports To: Director of Environmental Services and Central Sterile Processing
Supervises: EVS Technicians
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise EVS staff to ensure cleanliness and safety throughout patient care areas, offices, and common spaces.
- Schedule staff and assign daily duties and special projects.
- Train, coach, evaluate, and support EVS personnel; participate in hiring and disciplinary processes as needed.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and environmental services policies and procedures.
- Monitor departmental quality standards and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Oversee inventory, ordering, and proper use of cleaning supplies, equipment, and linens.
- Coordinate room turnover activities with Nursing and Admitting to support patient flow.
- Collaborate with hospital departments to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Assist with EVS duties as needed and perform all functions of an EVS Technician.
- Participate in committees, projects, and other hospital-wide initiatives.
- Demonstrate RML Specialty Hospital's STAIRS values and Language of Caring in all interactions.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of hospital environmental services, infection control, and safety practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use basic computer applications for scheduling, reporting, and quality monitoring.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, and furniture as needed.
Preferred
- Previous supervisory experience in environmental services or healthcare housekeeping.
Working Conditions
- Frequent exposure to dust, dirt, odors, cleaning chemicals, and infectious materials.
- Use of cleaning equipment and machinery.
- Occasional weekend, evening, or off-shift work as needed.
