About this role
R.J. Corman Railroad Group is currently seeking a Building Maintenance Technician in Nicholasville, KY.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on company buildings, facilities, and grounds.
- Troubleshoot and repair plumbing systems, including fixtures, piping, valves, and drainage systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on HVAC equipment and systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, lighting, outlets, switches, and related building components.
- Perform carpentry, painting, drywall repair, flooring repairs, and other general building maintenance tasks.
- Inspect facilities and identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and repair opportunities.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate and work with outside contractors and vendors as necessary.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance records.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and applicable regulations.
- Assist with facility improvements, renovations, and special projects.
- Participate in an on-call rotation or respond to after-hours maintenance needs as required.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:
- Experience in one or more skilled trades, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, or general building maintenance.
- Working knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, manuals, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Working knowledge of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and more with assistance.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
- Ability to work in confined spaces when required.
Environmental Conditions:
- Work is performed in office buildings, shops, warehouses, and outdoor environments.
- The position may be exposed to varying weather conditions, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, construction activities, and other maintenance-related hazards. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
