About this role
Lead Housekeeper— RISE Vols
Location: Knoxville, TN | Student Housing
A clean community doesn’t happen by accident. It takes someone who notices what needs attention, takes pride in getting it right, and helps the people around them do the same.
At RISE Vols, we’re looking for a Lead Housekeeper who leads by example. Someone who is just as comfortable picking up a mop as they are helping a team member learn the right way to clean a space. Someone who understands that clean hallways, stocked restrooms, and well-maintained common areas make a difference in how students experience their home.
This is a hands-on role. You’ll work alongside the custodial team, help organize daily priorities, and check that work is completed thoroughly. When something gets missed, you’ll help get it corrected. When the day gets busy, you’ll help keep the team moving without letting standards slip.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Clean and maintain the community alongside your team, including common areas, hallways, stairwells, elevators, restrooms, offices, and amenity spaces.
- Help coordinate daily cleaning assignments and priorities with your supervisor so the team knows what needs to be done and where to focus.
- Check completed work, identify areas that need additional attention, and help maintain consistent cleaning standards.
- Train and support team members on cleaning procedures, safe product use, equipment care, and day-to-day expectations.
- Empty trash, remove debris, replenish supplies, and help prepare spaces during move-in, move-out, and other busy periods.
- Monitor cleaning supplies and equipment, communicate replenishment needs, and promptly report maintenance concerns or safety hazards.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or commercial cleaning experience. Experience leading or training others is preferred.
- A dependable, hands-on approach. You’re willing to do the work, not just assign it.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to organize priorities, follow through, and recognize when something needs to be addressed.
- Clear, respectful communication with coworkers, supervisors, residents, and guests.
- Familiarity with cleaning products, equipment, and safe work practices, along with the ability to perform active work involving standing, walking, bending, and moving supplies and equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Why RISE?
Our values are simple: Love. Serve. Care. In this role, that means taking care of the spaces students use every day, treating your coworkers with respect, and following through on the work your team is counting on you to do.
You’ll have the opportunity to bring your cleaning experience into a leadership role while staying involved in the daily work that keeps the community running.
This Position May Be a Fit If…
You’re the person who notices the overflowing trash can before someone points it out. You can give direction without talking down to people. You take pride in a job done well, and you understand that leading a team starts with setting the example.
Bring that approach to RISE Vols. Apply today.
