Forward Deployed Engineer
About this role
We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to join RELEX's fast-growing AI-native retail planning team. You'll write production code, build data pipelines, and serve as the technical face of RELEX to major US retailers — owning customer outcomes end-to-end in a startup-like business unit backed by a $768M+ funded global leader.
What will you be doing?
Writing production code (~70% of your day) to build and deploy customer-specific integrations, data pipelines, and AI-driven solutions for major US grocery and retail accounts
Serving as the primary technical point of contact for 2-3 enterprise retail customers, engaging stakeholders from VP-level to store operations
Gathering requirements, workshopping solutions, and vibecoding prototypes directly with customers before implementing into the product
Owning KPI delivery, solution performance, and SLAs for live customer environments connected to their ERP systems
Traveling ~30% of the time to customer sites across the US (Phoenix, San Antonio, Jacksonville, Toronto, etc.)
Key Requirements
3-5 years of experience with a client-facing engineering background — must have worked directly with customers
Strong engineering fundamentals with ability to write production code daily (not just consulting/architecture)
Product mindset — understanding how software products work, quality standards, and product vision
Highly organized with strong multitasking ability; comfortable managing multiple accounts and syncing across engineering, AI, and design teams
Comfortable with AI tools in daily workflows and experienced with cloud platforms and modern data stacks
