Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot network equipment including Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Ethernet switches, and VoIP systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct fiber splicing and cabling work using low voltage wiring standards such as Cat5, Cat6, and NEC-compliant electrical practices.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on computer hardware, telecommunication equipment, CCTV systems, and data center infrastructure.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately install or repair systems in accordance with industry standards.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely to perform cabling runs, equipment mounting, and hardware repairs in various environments.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system status, troubleshooting steps, and maintenance procedures.
- Document all work performed through detailed reports while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.
Experience
- Proven experience as a service technician in IT or telecommunications fields with a strong background in network installation and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN configurations, Ethernet cabling (Cat5/Cat6), VLANs, and network security fundamentals.
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, Juniper networking equipment, Avaya telephony systems, and VoIP technology.
- Knowledge of fiber splicing techniques along with experience working in data centers or telecommunication environments.
- Ability to use testing tools such as ohmmeters for electrical measurements and troubleshoot low voltage systems effectively.
- Prior work involving CCTV installation or maintenance using schematics for surveillance system setup is highly desirable.
- Strong electrical experience combined with proficiency in using hand tools like crimpers, wire strippers, drills, power saws, and other essential equipment for field service tasks.
