DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International is seeking a Traffic Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in our Harrisburg, PA office to support our Traffic and ITS department on a variety of local and statewide transportation projects.
In this internship, you will assist with technical tasks on projects, working alongside Professional Engineers, Project Managers, and other design and construction professionals in a team environment. They will learn the profession as duties are performed.
It is expected that this position will report daily to the Harrisburg, PA office located at 4431 North Front Street, 2nd Floor, Harrisburg, PA 17110, but specific intermittent schedule and location exceptions are available depending on the circumstances. No housing subsidy will be provided.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Working as a team member within the Traffic and ITS department
- Performing basic to moderate design and calculations
- Preparing basic reports
- Assisting with data collection, input, verification, and manipulation
- Performing CADD drafting
- Conducting field-oriented assignments
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors’ Degree in Civil Engineering at an accredited University or College; in good academic standing; minimum of 2 years of coursework completed.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
- Ability to self-motivate and productively work with intermittent supervision.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office; PDF manipulation (Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam); working knowledge of CADD (MicroStation); and desire to develop programming skills is preferred.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
COMPENSATION:
The approximate compensation for this position is $24 per hour. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
