About this role
Michael Baker International is seeking an experienced Technical Manager – Right of Way to help lead our South Carolina Operations Team. This individual will serve as a technical and project leader responsible for right of way acquisition, easement negotiations, relocation services, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery support.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in South Carolina right of way practices, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to effectively manage complex property acquisition efforts while maintaining positive relationships with property owners, clients, and team members.
What You'll Do:- Lead easement and land acquisition activities on transportation and infrastructure projects.
- Apply advanced knowledge of South Carolina real estate law, right of way acquisition practices, and appraisal principles.
- Prepare offer packages and coordinate with SCDOT, local governments, and project stakeholders.
- Oversee negotiations and acquisitions with impacted property owners, building trust and maintaining positive relationships throughout the process.
- Administer and support relocation assistance activities in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Assist with training, mentoring, and providing guidance to right of way staff.
- Track, analyze, and report project metrics and performance data to leadership.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure schedules, milestones, and let dates are achieved.
- Utilize creative problem-solving and sound judgment when addressing challenging negotiations or project issues.
- Support project delivery efforts, including occasional weekend work as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Active South Carolina Real Estate License.
- South Carolina Notary Public.
- Experience applying Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act (Uniform Act) guidelines on project assignments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and project plans.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, planning, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience working with databases and collaboration platforms such as SharePoint or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- English language proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15+ years of Right of Way Acquisition experience.
- 15+ years of Relocation experience.
- Experience supporting South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) projects.
- Proven experience leading teams and supporting large-scale infrastructure projects.
The approximate compensation range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000 annually. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
