Duties and Responsibilities

Machinery Monitoring & Protection Systems

  • Install, configure, commission, and troubleshoot machinery protection and condition monitoring systems.
  • Configure vibration, process, and asset health monitoring devices and associated infrastructure.
  • Verify sensor installation, signal quality, alarm functionality, and communication integrity.
  • Perform startup, testing, and commissioning activities for online monitoring solutions.
  • Support system upgrades, migrations, and modernization projects.
  • Assist with field acceptance testing and customer turnover activities.

Software & System Configuration

  • Install, configure, and maintain machinery health, asset monitoring, and condition monitoring software platforms.
  • Configure assets, measurement points, alarms, databases, users, reporting tools, and system architecture.
  • Perform software updates, patching, backups, and licensing activities.
  • Troubleshoot software, database, and communication-related issues.
  • Provide customer training and technical support.

Industrial Networking & Communications

  • Configure and troubleshoot Ethernet-based industrial networks.
  • Assign and manage IP addresses, subnetting, gateways, and network connectivity.
  • Configure and validate industrial communication protocols including Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, OPC, and similar technologies.
  • Assist customers with cybersecurity requirements, firewall configuration, and network access requests.
  • Integrate monitoring systems with PLCs, DCSs, SCADA systems, historians, and enterprise asset management platforms.
  • Coordinate with plant operations, engineering, automation, and IT personnel to establish secure and reliable communications.

Technical Support

  • Provide onsite and remote troubleshooting support.
  • Diagnose hardware, software, communication, and instrumentation issues.
  • Generate detailed service reports and technical documentation.
  • Support emergency callouts and critical customer issues when required.
  • Establish and maintain strong customer relationships through technical expertise and professional service.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation, Computer Networking, Engineering Technology, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting industrial instrumentation, automation, controls, machinery monitoring, reliability systems, or related technologies.
  • Strong technical understanding of industrial instrumentation, automation systems, machinery monitoring, or reliability technologies.
  • Experience installing and commissioning industrial electronic equipment in operating facilities.
  • Experience with Windows-based software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of industrial networking principles including TCP/IP communications.
  • Experience configuring IP addresses, switches, gateways, and network connectivity.
  • Experience coordinating with customer IT departments regarding server access, cybersecurity requirements, and firewall exceptions.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, wiring schematics, network diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Must pass DOT and customer required drug testing.
  • Must meet company requirements for driving privileges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Preferred proficiency with:
    • Experience with machinery protection and condition monitoring systems.
    • Experience with vibration monitoring, rotating equipment reliability, and asset health technologies.
    • Experience commissioning wireless industrial instrumentation and WirelessHART® networks.
    • Experience integrating industrial monitoring systems using Modbus, OPC, MQTT, or similar communication protocols.
    • Experience supporting industrial software applications and databases.
    • Familiarity with machine protection standards such as API 670.
    • Experience supporting reliability programs in refining, petrochemical, chemical, power generation, LNG, pipeline, or manufacturing environments.
    • Knowledge of industrial cybersecurity concepts and network segmentation practices.
    • Basic understanding of vibration analysis and machinery diagnostics.
