About this role

Overview

We're looking for a Strategic Account Executive to sell PowerPlan's AI-powered tax and accounting software to the office of the CFO at some of the world's largest asset-intensive companies — helping them generate more cash, mitigate compliance risk, and build a culture of cost management. You'll own the full enterprise sales cycle across a concentrated portfolio of 10 to 12 strategic accounts, with two parallel mandates: converting existing on-premise customers to SaaS, and winning net-new enterprise logos across Utilities, Oil and Gas, Telecom, Mining, and Rail.

This is a highly consultative, complex enterprise sale — typically multi-stakeholder, 18 months or longer, and seven figures. You'll apply MEDDICC discipline throughout the sales cycle, operate as a trusted advisor to C-level buyers, and build a territory presence that positions PowerPlan before a formal evaluation even begins. The right person teaches customers a better way of doing business, and closes deals that prove it.

Responsibilities

Success will be measured by how full your qualified pipeline is within 90 days, and by how many seven-figure deals you close on a repeatable basis by the end of the year.

  • Build a structured, MEDDICC-informed territory plan and an active, qualified pipeline across your 10-12 strategic accounts within 90 days.
  • Own the commercial, technical, and change-management dimensions of converting existing on-premise customers to SaaS.
  • Run the full enterprise sales cycle — from qualification through close and handoff to Professional Services — using MEDDICC to qualify, forecast, and win.
  • Develop deep market intelligence in Utilities and other asset-intensive industries, knowing which accounts are likely to buy and why.
  • Build a trusted-advisor brand across your account portfolio, engaging economic buyers, champions, and skeptics alike.
  • Grow and leverage the existing customer base, turning satisfied customers into references, case studies, and expansion opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated track record closing complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise software deals — seven-figure transactions, 18-month-plus cycles, multiple deals per year.
  • Mastery of value-based selling methodologies, including MEDDICC, applied with discipline rather than as a checklist.
  • Proven experience selling complex software to the office of finance (CFO, Controller, VP Finance) and other C-level executives.
  • Demonstrated success converting on-premise customers to SaaS or subscription models, including building the migration business case.
  • A Utilities background is required; broader asset-intensive experience across Public Sector, Rail, or Oil and Gas is a plus.
  • History of selling business software — EAM, ERP, Maximo, or equivalent enterprise financial applications.
  • Skill navigating complex organizations, building consensus across economic buyers, champions, technical evaluators, and executive sponsors simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated, resilient, and goal-oriented — you manage your territory like a business and don't take no personally.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, or a highly analytical field.

Preferred

  • A financial or engineering background strong enough to translate operational problems into a quantified business case.
