About this role

Overview

We're looking for a Technical Architect to help direct a team of 10 to 13 off-shore engineering resources, translating business requirements into technical designs that guide how our software gets built. You won't manage day-to-day activities directly, but you'll own the on-time delivery of software and the long-term development and performance of the team executing your designs.

You'll learn PowerPlan's software, solutions, and technical framework quickly, then move from producing technical designs to collaborating with the team on business objectives — creating data models, data architecture, and detailed designs that make off-shore development adoption straightforward.

We're in the middle of one of the most significant transformations in our history. Decades of proven functionality are being reimagined on a modern SaaS foundation, while AI becomes central to how we build, deliver, and evolve our products. The next generation of the PowerPlan platform is being designed right now. Join us, and you'll have the opportunity to influence the technology, engineering practices, and capabilities that will shape it for years to come.

Responsibilities

Success will be measured by how quickly you're producing technical designs independently, and by how well off-shore development teams can execute against them without hand-holding.

  • Create technical designs from business requirements, including data models and data architecture that support them.
  • Enable Developers and QA with the tools, documentation, and test plans they need to execute against your designs.
  • Conduct design signoff sessions that set the team up for a productive, well-documented work environment.
  • Establish milestones, estimates, and timelines in partnership with Product Managers.
  • Identify and communicate risks, delays, or roadblocks early, and work toward agreeable solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and/or Computer Science.
  • 10+ years of work experience in a similar position or equivalent skills, with a history of increasing responsibility.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision on assigned functions.
  • Process orientation, with the ability to analyze and design or build complex processes.
  • Experience with key enterprise applications, including ERP and EAM.
  • Understanding of system and network architecture, system platforms, system access, database design, SQL queries, and network protocols.
  • Insight into how PowerPlan's products work, including their application, function, features, use, and support services.
  • Ability to apply industry and domain knowledge — accounting, tax, and budgeting — to design decisions.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.

Preferred

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Project and/or team leadership experience.
  • Hands-on experience with capital projects, capital budgets, fixed asset accounting, or business tax software.
  • Experience running and delivering enterprise-level software applications, including ERP and EAM.
