About this role

We are looking for a Core Engineer with 3+ years of experience to own the development of Honcho, our open-source continual learning infrastructure for AI memory and identity modeling.

You're a product-minded, high-agency engineer who thrives in ambiguity and can make autonomous decisions about what to build next. Plastic Labs is growing rapidly with 40, 000+ users and we need someone who can hold the whole system in their head while shipping features, maintaining integrations, and engaging with our open-source community. You'll work directly with the CTO in a flat, fast-moving team.

What you will do:

Own core feature development on Honcho's open-source codebase - the memory and identity layer for agentic systems

Build and maintain integrations and plugins with agent harnesses (Claude Code, Hermes, OpenClaw, Codex) and connectors (Granola, email, etc.)

Coordinate with the open-source community - reviewing PRs, responding to issues, and treating contributors as an extension of the team

Make product decisions autonomously - evaluating new trends in the AI ecosystem and deciding which integrations to prioritize

Participate in on-call rotation and support platform users
